The cool tool Education
The company The Cool Tool specializes in machines for technical education, from kindergarten to university level. Since 1982, the company has been developing innovative products to provide learners of all ages with practical and safe access to the world of technology.
With The Cool Tool Education, learners can unleash their full potential and learn through access to high-quality, modular, and safe machines. Technology and material knowledge are taught in a sustainable and active manner, allowing learners to develop a deep understanding of these areas.
The know-how acquired with UNIMAT machines can later be applied in practice with industrial equipment. The machines are specifically designed for students to spark their early interest in STEM subjects.
Which Grade Level
Are You Looking For?
Choose your education level — from the first workshop lesson in kindergarten to computer-controlled manufacturing.
A first playful encounter with technology and tools — child-friendly and safe.
Four machine functions in one set — sawing, turning, sanding, drilling. Curriculum-aligned and ready to use right away.
Creative design work combined with technical craftsmanship — ideal for design and crafts subjects.
Wood and metal machining, more advanced milling and turning techniques. Aligned with lower- and upper-secondary curricula.
Professional metalworking at school scale. Tolerances under 0.1 mm — for technical colleges, vocational schools and training workshops.
A complete CAD-CAM production cycle at school scale. Design, program, manufacture.
Flexible, complete stations for project-based learning — scalable from the classroom to a full workshop.
The Kindergarten Set gives children their first playful encounter with technology, tools and materials. Purpose-built for children from age 4 — child-friendly in construction, certified to toy-safety standards, and ready to use in the classroom right away. Children discover shapes, materials and simple cause-and-effect relationships hands-on.
The UNIMAT Elementary Set lets children from age 8 work with real machines — child-safe in construction and mapped to standard curricula for craft and technology subjects. Sawing, turning, sanding and drilling, all from a single set. Ready-made project plans and lesson outlines are included.
The Design & Crafts Set combines creative design with technical craftsmanship. Ideal for design subjects, craft classes and cross-curricular projects. Students plan, design and build their own pieces, from initial idea through to finished object.
The Secondary Set significantly extends the Elementary Set: alongside woodworking, students now work with metal machining, more advanced milling and turning techniques, and working from technical drawings. Suitable for lower-secondary schools, upper-secondary schools and vocational colleges.
The MetalLine Set achieves tolerances under 0.1 mm — a level of precision otherwise found only in professional industry settings. Lathe, horizontal mill, sanding machine and drill press in one modular set. Ideal for technical colleges, vocational schools and training workshops.
A complete digital manufacturing cycle at school scale: students design on the computer (CAD), program the machine (CAM) and produce the finished part. Includes our own TCTControl software. Builds directly on MetalLine.
A starter package for elementary schools. Sawing, sanding, turning and drilling in one open learning space.
A complete woodworking station for secondary school — multiple machines, open-ended project work.
A combined station for wood and metal machining. Ideal for technical projects at secondary level.
A complete CNC makerspace for technical education. CAD-CAM workflow including TCTControl software.
Advantages of the UNIMAT System in Education
More Machines, Lower Costs
Thanks to its modular design, a single UNIMAT set can be configured into multiple machine types – such as a lathe, jigsaw, and more. This not only saves space but also significantly reduces acquisition costs, as there’s no need for a separate device for each application. Ideal for flexible and budget-conscious technical education.
Versatility and Sustainability – Full Functionality in Minimal Space
UNIMAT delivers the capabilities of large machines in a compact format. The modular system allows for the flexible setup of various fully functional machines. Transport cases and the mobile workshop are specially designed for school use, making storage and transport particularly easy. Perfect for schools with limited space but high expectations.
Quality and Innovation
Since 1982, UNIMAT has been an Austrian quality product known for its outstanding functionality.
The Modular Principle
One system — ready to use in minutes.
1. Choose your set
Each education set includes everything needed for classroom use: machines, tools and transport case.
2. Configure the machine
Students convert the modules into a lathe, scroll saw, sanding machine or drill in just a few minutes — and the setup process becomes part of the learning experience.
3. Build real projects
Ready-to-use project plans — from propeller cars and wind turbines to CNC-milled workpieces.
STEM – Inspiring Enthusiasm for Technology
With the safe and precise UNIMAT machines, all areas of STEM can be taught through hands-on activities.
From simple sawing and woodturning projects for beginners to CNC-controlled 4-axis milling, the Cool Tool Makerspace offers the right solution for every level.
Thanks to the safety of the machines, even children as young as 8 years old can work independently.

Our modular systems are implemented in thousands of schools worldwide – from primary education to vocational training.
The cool tool was also a partner in an ERASMUS+ project, where teachers and students from various EU countries worked together on hands-on technical tasks.
The project is carried out across multiple European partner countries and supports the training of young people as future skilled professionals.
The focus is on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) – presented in a clear, practical, and engaging way.
Project ideas for school
Woodworking project
An exciting project that teaches woodworking and basic technical understanding is the DIY wooden wind turbine.
The craft kit includes a solar module, and the accompanying plans enable the construction of various models related to solar power, wind turbines, and e-mobility. This combines woodworking with mechanics and electronics.
CNC Education project
Our CNC machines teach the connections between computer-aided design and manufacturing of selected components. Complex 3D models can be manufactured with computer control.
An example using the CNC milling machine is the production of a clamping block. This combines STEM applications such as measurement technology, design, and computer science with actual manufacturing on the CNC machine. The additional rotary table CNC transforms the 3-axis milling machine into a fully functional 4-axis milling machine.
